Project 365 - January 31

January 31 - Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."

January 30 - I procrastinated doing lesson plans for a LONG time today! I even ironed, and I almost never iron. After we got home from church tonight, I finally immersed myself in economics. I am starting The Stock Market Game with my fifth graders, and I don't know much about it myself! So, I sat down tonight with books and binders, and I am just trying to stay one step ahead of my kids! Unfortunately, I didn't sleep well tonight, and everytime I woke up, I had some economic term or stock ticker symbol in my head. :)

January 29 - It was a BEAUTIFUL spring day in January today in Mississippi with a high of 72!! I got outside, played tennis with a friend, and Bruce and I took Rook for a little outing. I intended to get pictures of horses that aren't too far from the house, but this picture turned out better than any of the ones I took of the horses! :)

January 28 - When I married Bruce, he had a few frogs around the house. Our collection has grown over the years. Most of them are very small, so most people don't even notice them around the house, but there is at least one frog in each room of the house. I will try to include pictures of them throughout the year! This is one my mom gave us a couple of years ago that sits on the bookshelf in our hallway.

January 27 - It was the end of the day, and I realized I had not taken a picture, so I looked around the house. I got this picture of the Chronicles and Narnia series of books. I have actually never read them, but Bruce has read most of them over the past few years as the movies have come out.

Project 365 - January 26

January 26 - This is actually just a picture of a computer screen, but it does mean something to me! On Wednesdays, I usually pick up Camryn from daycare and take her to church with me. It is our little bonding time together each week, and I love it! On the way to church tonight, I was listening to K-LOVE, as I do most of the time. It was turned down because Camryn and I had been talking about our days. She surprised me when she said, "I like this song. Can you turn it up?" I didn't even know what song was playing. It was Chris Tomlin's "I Will Follow." The best part was when she starting singing the chorus. "Where you go, I'll go, Where you stay, I'll stay, When you move, I'll move, I will follow you, Who you love, I'll love, How you serve, I'll serve, If this life I lose, I will follow you, I will follow you." How sweet it was to hear her sing. She has always liked music and even talked about liking songs, but this was the first time I have heard her just sing along with the radio. It definitetly brought a smile to my face!!!!

Project 365 - January 25

January 25 - Today, I had my kids make covers for new binders that they got. After searching a bit on artsonia.com, I chose this idea. This was the example that I made for them. They really enjoyed it and found it challenging to come up with a different pattern for each section in the background.

January 24 - Just a picture of a cute notepad my mom gave me last year. Oh, how true it is!!

January 23 - I missed taking a picture today. :( As I crawled into bed, I told Bruce that I had not taken a picture. I was too tired to get up and take one though. Today was my first full day of activity since I guess last Sunday, and it wore me out!!

Project 365 - January 22

January 22 - I have felt pretty good today, and Bruce and I ventured to Five Guys at the Renaissance for supper tonight. I carried the camera along and got a few pictures of the fountain.

January 21 - After feeling better yesterday, I have not felt as good today. Let me just say, I despise nose sprays, but by tonight I was willing to get one and use it. I searched through them all and finally got this one because it was one of the "Ultra Fine Mist" ones!!

Project 365 - January 20

January 20 - It's now Thursday, and I have taken off the whole week. I am feeling much better today but I still have a low fever. :( I have more energy today than I have the last two days, so that is good. When we left Mandeville Tuesday, my mom sent me home with my birthday gift. It was in a very large box, so I asked her is I could go ahead and open it so we could clean up around the house (Bruce's request really!). She said I could, even though my birthday is a few weeks away. It was a place setting of my Christmas dishes!!! I chose this pattern, Holiday Gatherings by Lennox, a couple of years ago. Of course, they don't make it any more, but I am slowly collecting pieces at Christmas and birthdays. I actually pulled out the nice camera to get this shot. I've been doing most of my pictures with my point and shoot, which I do love, but I also love to get out the SLR and play with it! I'm always reminded what great pictures it takes!! :)

January 19 - Papa is about the same today, and Granny now has pneumonia as well. I went to the doctor today. No pneumonia thankfully, but I do have bronchitis and a sinus infection. While I was waiting to pick up my medicine at Walgreens, I decided to pick up something to make me happy. I chose Biscoff cookies. They are the BEST!!!

January 18 - Bruce and I came back from Mandeville this morning after seeing Papa. Bruce went in for a half day of work, but I stayed home to get ready for the rest of the week at work. Unfortunately, I started to not feel great this morning and by this afternoon I had a fever of 101.8. So, I napped most of the afternoon and finished my library book since it is due back this week!

January 17 - My mom called this morning to tell me that my Papa was unresponsive this morning, was rushed to the hospital, and is now on a ventilator. He has been diagnosed with pneumonia. So, Bruce came home at lunch and we drove down to Mandeville. After visiting Papa in the hospital, we spent the night at Granny and Papa's. Papa always loved his dogs, but since he can't take care of a real dog any more, he has lots of other dogs around the house. This is one that sits on the hearth and keeps them company. :)

Project 365 - January 16

January 16 - Bruce and I took Camryn and Caleb, my neice and nephew, to church tonight. I thought this was a cute picture as they were looking at the fish while we waited on Bruce to get the car since it was raining.

January 15 - We set out last Saturday to find a pair of boots for me. We went out again today and instead came back with a pair for Bruce!! I have small feet, so the stores have VERY few to choose from in my size. I have ordered some though, and they should come in later this week.

January 14 - When I got home from school today, bluebirds were playing on our roof and driveway. They scattered as soon as I drove up, of course. I caught this one on our neighbor's roof before they found a new place to play.

January 13 - Today was absolutley beautiful, and this is a picture of the pond at my school. I stopped on the way out to catch a quick picture. I am actually quite proud of it. I usually like to take very close-up pictures, so I like this one since it is varied from my norm! One of my hopes of doing Project 365 is that I will become a better photographer along the way, so I want to challenge myself by trying new techniques, angles, etc. throughout the year.

Project 365 - January 12

January 12 - I know this probably doesn't look like much. It is actually a bunch of construction paper. My third graders have each been writing a poem about a color of their choice. I am turning those into a Shutterfly book that the parents can buy, and I took this picture today to use on the cover of the book. Each piece of construction paper represents one child's poem!

January 11 - This is just a little bird that sits inside a plant stand we have. He actually doesn't stand out much, but I think he's cute!

Ice Storm

Okay, so I wouldn't actually call what we had yesterday an ice storm, but the meterologists sure thought it was going to be! I am glad we did not get near as much ice as they thought we would, but I did get a day off work today, so that is nice!! I wish that we had gotten a little snow with the ice, because that would have made it a bit prettier. Anyhow, below are a few pictures I took around our yard.

Project 365 - January 10

January 10 - We did have some sleet and freezing rain yesterday, so ice had accumulated on Bruce's truck quite well. My morning started by helping him get the ice enough off of his truck so he could go into work. They cancelled school today, so I didn't have to go in!!! I decided since I was up to take more pics of the ice. I will post some of those as well.

January 9 - All church activities were cancelled today due to the "winter storm" that was supposed to come through. So, Bruce and I watched Toy Story 3, Unlikely Animal Friends, House Hunters, football, and other random things on TV. At one point, we decided we should do something besides watch TV, so we played a game. We settled on Yahtzee. Bruce had never played it before, so that was fun to teach him! (It was also fun to win!!)

Project 365 - January 8

January 8 - This afternoon I gathered all of my Tupperware stuff together. I have a LOT of stuff! However, I am now an inactive consultant since I haven't had a party in a long time. I need to decide whether I am going to become an active consultant again or let it go. Hmmm...

January 7 - Bruce and I went to Riverdance tonight! As you can see on the ticket, there was no photography allowed, so I settled for a pic of the tickets! By the way, it was so HOT in Thalia Mara. During intermission, I went to the bathroom to take my camisole off from under my sweater. I was not the only one doing that either! :) Everyone was talking about how hot it was.

January 6 - Decided just to take a picture of Rook tonight. I don't think he was too pleased at being disturbed by the flash, but oh well!!

Project 365 - January 6

I took lots of pictures of my kids at school today, but I want to find something else to post. Hopefully I will find a subject for a picture soon! I have taken pictures the last few days, so I will go ahead and post those.

January 5 - It's Wednesday night, and I would normally be at choir. However, we got the first Wednesday of the New Year off as a sort of extended break, I guess. I am not going to complain! So, instead of going to church, I had dinner with Melanie, Emily, and Laura at Newk's. I have to go to Newk's with the girls when I can because it is not a favorite of Bruce's!

January 4 - This is a picture of what I cooked tonight - roasted green beans and chicken and four cheese ravioli. I tried to plate it really nicely for a picture! I should mention that I don't cook very often. I am proud of myself because I have actually cooked two full meals in 2011, and it's only day 4. We'll see how long this lasts!!! :)

January 3 - Back to the daily grind of work. It was not fun to hear the alarm clock go off at 5:00, but I got up pretty well and got going. Always on the first day back from a Christmas holiday, I want to hear about my students' trips, gifts, etc. The above Rubik's cubes were the prized gifts of one of my fifth graders. He always bring his newest Rubik's cube to PA when he gets one. And yes.....he can solve them all! I am so sad. Next Monday is his last day with me. I should be happy though because his family is moving home to Korea and his dad is going to be a pastor there in Korea.

Project 365 Begins

So, here is the beginning of Project 365. :)
Project 365 Day 2 - Okay, I was going to post a picture of a huge spider that was in my classroom when I went to work today, but I wouldn't get too close to it with my camera, so none of the pictures came out well. I decided, instead, to document the day I started blogging!

Project 365 Day 1 - Bruce put all of our Christmas decorations up on January 1st. However, all the ornaments on our tree are snowmen (a collection my dad started for me years ago!), so we decided to keep the tree up for a while.

New to the Blogging World

Okay....so I've always enjoyed looking at other people's blogs, but I have never started one. I saw on my cousin's blog about something she is doing this year and thought it would be neat to do myself. It is called Project 365. The idea is to take one picture for each day of the year. So, now I have something to blog about, and I am going to give it a try!
