Refinishing Furniture

I am so thankful to have a dad that is very handy!  He had a week off of work, so he and mom spent it here in Jackson.  He helped us refinish a chifferobe that my Aunt Lucy and Uncle Elven gave us.  The chifferobe will eventually belong in our baby's nursery for more storage since our closets are so tiny. Although there are no pictures of me, I helped as well while my mom worked on cleaning the inside of my house.  Thanks, Mom!!

Here is the AFTER picture.  Even though the doors are not on yet, you can see that it is beautiful!!!  Thanks so much to Lucy and Elven for this piece of furniture and to Bruce and Dad for all of their hard work on this project. I am so proud of it!

Pirate Time!

While my parents were in town, we had Chad, Cathy, and the kids over for dinner.  When mom and I were out shopping this afternoon, I found some pirate accessories in the dollar section of Target, and I thought they would make perfect entertainment for the kids tonight!  And yes, I am the one that put Camryn's mustache on incorrectly.  Oops!

Project 52 - Week 21

{TIME} - As I tried to think about what to take a picture of for this week's theme, I kept thinking about the fact that God's timing is so much better than ours.  That is so hard for me to grasp often times, but I know that it is true.  I haven't talked about our adoption on the blog before, but Bruce and I began the domestic adoption process last April.  I spent last summer working on the paperwork, and we had our three home study visits last summer as well.  We have officially been waiting 8 months.  I know that in God's perfect time, we will be parents.  Our verse for our adoption journey is Psalm 16:41, "The heart of man plans his ways, bu the Lord directs his steps."  Though the wait is not always easy, we know that God has led us to adoption and eagerly await the child the He will bring to our family.

Project 52 - Weeks 18, 19, and 20

Week 20 {OBSESSION} - I love this picture!  I recently purchased cameras for my classroom.  My fifth graders have been wanting to do a photography unit for two years, and we are finally doing it the last month of their fifth grade year.  Some of them are doing a great job and are becoming quite obsessed with taking great pictures!

Week 19 {AROUND THE HOUSE} - This week, I saw this little guy on the fence post and ran to get my camera.  Luckily, he posed for me for a while, and I got a few good shots!

Week 18 {SKY} - This sky picture could not have been more perfectly timed for this week's theme.  As we waited on Bruce's softball game to start, it started to rain pretty good, so I went back to my car to sit until the rain stopped.  This rainbow appeared after the short rain and was beautiful!!

Photography Scavenger Hunt

Recently, I joined the Jackson Photographic Society. They meet twice a month and have photography competitions as well as hands-on experiences. I am very much enjoying being a part of this, and I am learning a lot!

Yesterday, they had a scavenger hunt in which I participated.  Bruce went with me, and we had a great time.  It started at 8:00 am and you had until 8:00 pm to take your pictures.  There were 15 items on the list.  The pictures will later be printed out and judged by the club, but I am not sure when that will be.  Here are the pictures that I submitted along with the item description.

Charise Wilson Photography - Wedding Shower for Leah Frances

I had the privilege of taking pictures at Leah Frances Jones's wedding shower.  It was beautiful!  My friend Susan sure has her hands full with two weddings this summer.  :)  Congratulations to both Leah Frances and Molly.  You will both make beautiful brides!

School Butterfly

This butterfly was sitting on the rail at school as I walked out today, so I just stopped and got a few pictures.

Super Moon

Last night, I set up my camera in the middle of the street to take pictures of the Super Moon.  I am sure glad that I live on a quiet street!

"The Lord watches over you,
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night."
Psalm 121:5-6
