August 31 - My dear friend Elaine had her baby boy Benaiah today! This is a picture that I made for another friend to give to her. I will take it to the hospital when I visit tomorrow. I can't wait to meet that sweet baby boy!
August 29 - Since my fourth graders at school are working on a pop art unit at school, I thought it would be fun to play with Photoshop Elements to see what I could do with its guided pop art tool. I think it is pretty cool!!
August 28 - Bruce had a great time flipping a Care Bear around! Or maybe it was the other way around... a Care Bear really enjoyed being flipped around by Bruce ! :)
August 27 - Camryn and Caleb learning the ways of the 21st century with Cathy and Nana on the iPhone and iPad.
August 26 - This is the same activity as yesterday's with another group of kids. I love when my kids get out of their comfort zone to work together. At first they didn't want to help each other that much, but they soon realized they were going to have to if they were going to accomplish the problem-solving task at hand! They sure look like they are having fun, don't they?
August 25 - I did a new team building activity with my fifth graders this year. They had to all stand on a piece of fabric and then flip the fabric completely to the other side without ever getting off of it. It took a long time, but they finally got it! I was very proud of them!
August 24 - This is the group of girls from church that painted last night. We really should do it again soon!
August 23 - I went to Easely Amused tonight with a group of girls from church. I had a blast! The picture we painted is called "New Day." It always amazes me how a small tray of paint can transform into a nice picture is just a short amount of time!
August 22 - I had to report to jury duty today. I was on call the whole month of August, but this is the only day I had to go in. I have never been summoned to jury duty before, so it was an interesting experience. We were there all day for them to choose the jury, and I was not chosen. The trial is to last all week. I am glad I was not chosen, but I do think being on a jury would definitely be a worthwhile learning experience one day.
August 21 - I found this "A" while Bruce and I were at lunch yesterday at Great Harvest Bread Company. I must say that they have wonderful bread!!!! :)
August 20 - Bruce and I went to eat lunch and geocaching today while I was having the oil changed in my car. This butterfly was flying around where we were geocaching. I must say, searching for a geocache (actually four of them in a multicache) in a parking lot on a 100+ day might not be the best idea. It was way tooooo hot for that! We were soaking wet by the time we found the fourth one!
August 19 - My fifth graders watercolored today, and one of my girls decided to finger paint. I have never thought of finger painting with watercolors, but whatever works!!!
August 18 - I found this "T" at school!
August 17 - I actually took this picture a few weeks ago at Elaine's baby shower, but I thought it was fitting for today. Today was our pastor Stan Buckley's last Sunday at First Baptist Church Jackson. He mentioned these words from the hymn "Trust and Obey" in his sermon this morning.
August 16 - This is more fourth graders working on their pop art self-portraits.
August 14 - Today was the first day that I had students at school. I am actually helping Mrs. Montgomery, the other gifted teacher, with her second graders, so that is what I did today. Having second graders is a very new experience! They are so little compared to my fourth and fifth graders. I am sure I will have pictures of them to post later.
August 13 - I can't remember if I have post any picture of this crepe myrtle or not this year. Anyhow, I just love the color of these blooms. They give our back yard a little pop of color!
August 12 - These frogs enjoy their home in the shrubbery of our back yard!
August 11 - We finally got a new printer! It is another Canon. I was very pleased with my last Canon (until it died), so I hope I am just as pleased with this one!
August 10 - I thought it would be neat to begin finding letters to photograph, so here is my first one. I found this "S" right outside on my back porch!
