Project 365 - July 31

Yesterday was Dress-A-Child.  We had about 100 volunteers to help dress 145 children of inmates.  I love to see God's people giving their time and their love away to others!

This little girl loved having her picture taken!

Getting new school clothes!

Don't these girls look like they are having a great time?

Although he didn't give me a big smile here, I finally got one out of him.

Although many of the people helping to shop were women, it was great to see the men out there too!

I love this one.  This little boy would not let me take the picture until he had posed!

Isn't she cute?

All the kids were so proud of their new shoes.

Project 365 - July 30

Today was a very busy day.  It started at Wal-Mart for Dress-A-Child.  I took pictures at that, and I will post a few of those tomorrow.  Then, I had a shower to go to for a dear friend who is having a baby boy in about 5 weeks.  Then, we went to Five Guys to eat with my mom, Cathy, and the kids tonight in Madison so Camryn and Caleb could play in the sprinklers after we ate.

Everything at the shower was so cute, and the food was delicious!

The decorations at the shower were very fresh and summery!!

I know Elaine is ready for baby Benaiah to be here, especially in this summer heat!

Caleb fell down and skinned his knees just a bit, and Camryn is taking care of it.  She is definitely an "in charge" girl.

Caleb looks like he had fun!!  Last time we came out here with them, he wouldn't even get in the water.

Project 365 - July 29

July 29 - R.I.P. dear printer.  You have served me well.

July 28 - We are planning to have a garage sale in October, so mom is helping me clean out this week.  I had four Mary Engelbreight pictures in my room when I was a teenager.  I still love them, but I think it's time to let them go.

July 27 - Thank you Kroger!!  Each box was only $1.50!!

July 26 - I didn't take any pictures today, so I thought I would just use another picture from my trip to Houston.  I have a collection of teacups that stays at my parents' house for now.  Sunday afternoon, I took pictures of a lot of them.  I don't know what I am going to do with the pictures yet, but I had a great time shooting them!

July 25 - Camryn and I flew back to Jackson today.  My mom flew back with us and is staying a week to help out with the kids while my brother is away working.  It will be nice to have her around for another week!  This "man" must really love reading.  This is what he is always doing at my parents' house!  :)  While we were in Houston, Camryn asked my dad if he was dead.

Project 365 - July 24

This was our last day in Houston at Nana and Pops.  It was a bit less active than the other days.

This morning, Camryn painted a t-shirt that Nana got for her.

She painted two matching shirts: one for her and one for Caleb!

We went to the pool again today.  Our time was cut short due to the rain, but we stayed in until the last possible minute!

Looking at Google Maps with Pops on the iPad.  I think this girl has a good sense of direction.  When they looked at it the other day, she found her way from her house to ours on her own.  Pretty impressive!

Project 365 - July 23

Day four of our trip to Houston

Nana and I got a pedicure this morning while Pops entertained Camryn at McDonald's!

This is what we found when we got home.  Pops and Camryn were looking through old family photo albums from when Chad and I were little.

"I am ready to go to the pool!!!!!"

Camryn's favorite water buddy is Nana.

A big leap.......

....and swim to Nana!

Camryn made a friend at the pool yesterday, and she came today too!  The older girl off to the right is her cousin.  She preferred to talk to me and my mom.

More ice cream!

Time to make cupcakes with Nana!

Nana bought princess cupcake holders and toppers.  Aren't they cute?  Camryn did not think that Pops needed a princess topper, so his is the cupcake on the top right!

Yum, yum!!!!!!

I just wanted to play with my camera some, and I thought this picture was pretty neat!

Project 365 - July 22

Today was a busy day!  We spent about four hours at the Children's Museum of Houston.  We also got a tag to go to the pool and spent about two and a half hours at the pool.  I didn't get any pictures of that, but I am sure we will be at the pool again before we leave!

Here's Camryn ready for her day at the museum.

The museum started with Kidtropolis, a city run by the children.  Camryn received an ATM card when we entered the museum, and she could earn and spend money in Kidtropolis.  Here, she is spending money at HEB, the local grocery store.

Camryn earned some money by being a groomer at the vet.

She also earned money by being an EMT and driving the ambulance!

Nana and Camryn building in the Invention Connection area of the museum.

Camryn loved a little obstacle course that they had at the museum.  Nana and I did it too, but I thought it was best not to put those pictures up.  Let's just say that we could have done it a lot more quickly had we been three feet tall!

This is a picture of Camryn and I working on a pop-up card.  It was quite complicated and took a lot of concentration to figure out.

I succeeded!  The other lady that was doing it at the table finally gave up.  It was definitely a bit much for little hands and minds to figure out, but it sure is cute when finished!

I thought this phone man made out of all different kinds of phones was great!

Nana lifted Camryn off of the ground using a pulley system.

The Children's Museum had a nice garden outside, so I had to snap a few pictures there!

This is a most unusual plant that was growing on a tree.  I never did find a description of what it was, but I thought it was very interesting looking.

The ice cream popscicle did not last very long in the heat.  Do you notice that ice cream and popscicles seem to be a theme of this trip?

Camryn really enjoyed the water part of the museum that was outside.  There was so much to do!

I think Camryn enjoyed her day!  What do you think?  :)

Project 365 - July 21

So, today was our first full day with Nana and Pops in Houston!!  Pops is not feeling well.  Mom and I convinced him to go to the doctor this morning, so hopefully he will feel better soon!

Camryn picked out Hello Kitty to make at Build-a-Bear!

Camryn is adding lots of love to put in Hello Kitty, who ended up with a ballerina outfit and pajamas. Notice the tiara and earrings that Camryn is wearing.  That was our very first purchase this morning, made at the Dollar Tree!

Camryn is enjoying some Chik-fil-A ice cream for dessert at lunch.  I think she had ice cream twice today.  Yes, I am sure of that!  My mom assures me that my Granny and Papa spoiled me just as much as they are now spoiling Camryn!!

I just had to get a picture of this.  I could never get a really good view, but look at the lady wearing a jungle.  What was she thinking?  Maybe she was trying to be camouflaged in the mall!

Does she look like a princess or what?!

We found a splash pad in Nana and Pops's neighborhood, so we spent part of our afternoon there.  Camryn had a great time running through all of the sprinklers.

Although we never got rain, we finally had to leave the splash pad because there was thundering and rain clouds nearby.  I must add that right next to the sprinklers is a pool.  Camryn would occassionally run to the fence of the pool and longingly look in.  You have to have a special pass to use the pool, so I think we will make it a priority to get one of those tomorrow!

Camryn loves arts and crafts, so she spent some time tonight painting figurines that we bought this morning at Dollar Tree.  One of the figurines broke, and that was our first meltdown of the trip.  Nana to the rescue...she took Camryn to Dollar Tree after supper to replace it!
